Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
-- Margaret Mead
What We Do
Inform
Our first official event was a screening of the documentary film "Chasing Coral" at Oxford College in March 2018 for the Atlanta Science Festival. We try to host a film screening and discussion at least once a quarter. Other recent films featured have included "The Human Element" and "Paris to Pittsburgh." What other programs would you like to see?

Engage
In conjunction with the Great Georgia Pollinator Census coordinated by the University of Georgia Extension Service, Sustainable Newton hosted and supported pollinator counting events at four sites around Newton County on August 23-24, 2019. Visit our Facebook page to see our citizen scientists in action here.

By far, the most import thing Sustainable Newton does to address climate change and promote sustainability in our community is to facilitate conversations right here in Newton County.
Several of our board members are trained members of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps. As such, we have been taught to understand and communicate realities of climate change and the practical solutions communities everywhere are undertaking to address those realities. We would love to talk with your group and further that conversation here in Newton County. |
